GOAL CATEGORIES

Plans are comprised of numberous interrelated pieces that work together to move a community forward.  The goals and objectives are similar in that they also reach across topic areas to intertwine with related themes.  The Kenton County Comprehensive plan goals and objectives highlight and celebrate these correlations through the use of goal categories.  Read on to learn more about the main goal categories and how they are used in the goals and objectives matrix.


The seven goal categories identified include:

  Goal Category Symbol Description
1 Mobility Mobility This goal category addresses all modes of transportation including roadways, transit, freight, biking and walking.
2 Healthy Communities Healthy Communities This goal category primarily addresses housing in the context of the community.
3 Natural Systems Natural Systems This goal category includes environmental factors and their relationship to the built environment.
4 Health Health This goal category addresses public health related factors including food, health care and access to a healthy lifestyle.
5 Economy Economy This goal category includes economy related topics such as education and job creation/retention.
6 Community Identity Community Identity This goal category is focused on identifying the four unique but connected communities in Kenton County – urban, first ring, suburban and rural.
7 Governance Governance This category provides guidance on factors related to improving efficiency in governance.
